It is encouraged to complete required tasks as soon as possible. Failure to complete may result in losing the ability to register for classes, additional charges and/or a conduct hold on your student account, hindering studying abroad, participating in Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and more. Students participating in the Discovery program in Fall 2024 should complete the required tasks below unless noted otherwise (i.e. Required for:). Please note: these required tasks are for new students only.
Your health history and immunization forms must be uploaded to the Patient Portal.
In accordance with New York State law, the following vaccination records must be submitted to the Patient Portal by the due date below.
All new students are required to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Questionnaire on the Patient Portal.
Throughout your time at Syracuse University, your NetID and password will help you access digital platforms such as your SUMail email account, MySlice, the Patient Portal, the Wellness Portal and more.
The NetID is the first part of the student's email. For example, New Student Program's NetID would be welcome, and New Student Program's Syracuse University Email Account is welcome@syr.edu.
Prior to arriving and throughout your time at Syracuse University, you will receive important and timely information. It is encouraged to access your SUMail email account often.
All new students are required to live in University housing for the first two years of enrollment (unless commuting from a residential address in the Syracuse area).
Syracuse University offers students a platinum-rated health insurance plan administered through Aetna Student Health. Each year, all full-time, matriculated undergraduate, graduate and law students must enroll in or waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan through their MySlice account. Students within traditionally online degree programs are not eligible to enroll in or waive the Student Health Insurance Plan.
Syracuse University Food Services is committed to meeting the nutritional needs of the campus community. Students with dietary needs and/or food allergies are encouraged to proactively request accommodations before coming to campus. Waiting to provide appropriate documentation may lead to delays in requested modifications.
Benefits of proactively submitting a Syracuse University I.D. photo include ease of pick-up at Syracuse Welcome. If submitted before the due date, Syracuse University I.D. cards will be available upon check-in at your residence hall, or if commuting, at 111 Waverly, Suite 111, Housing, Meal Plan and I.D. Card Services.
Welcome Week will support students' transitions to college through wayfinding, academic meetings, social events and more. Registration will allow New Student Programs to plan appropriate amounts of food, giveaways, Welcome Week shirts and more.
All students whose dominant language is not English must take the ESOL Placement Exam (ELAE).
Federal guidelines require Syracuse University to receive confirmation of your graduation from high school and receive a copy of your final high school transcript. Failure to complete may hinder the distribution of federal financial aid (for U.S. citizens and permanent residents).
Students will receive information via email (i.e. @syr.edu) from their School or College regarding the process for course enrollment and placement exams.
To confirm semester registration, your Bursar student account must be current. This means either paid in full or covered by anticipated financial aid (aid that has been awarded but not disbursed). Accounts on the Monthly Payment Plan are billed monthly and installment payments must be current.
An email notification is sent when an electronic bill (e-bill) is created and available to view on MySlice. (Please note, you will need your NetID and password.) If you are on the Monthly Payment Plan, you may pay for the semester in monthly installments. Explore the billing and payment schedule on the Accounts and Billing webpage.
Share My Access is a feature used to set up parents/guardians to receive notifications of e-bills. This allows students to provide their parents/guardians with their own account and password necessary to view financial information online, as well as other University information.
Additionally, you may establish your college financial plan with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs. Call 315.443.1513 or email your personal financial aid counselor for more information.
